Event Description:
Philadelphia Funduro 2018
Come and enjoy a family day out on a route with breathtaking views of table mountain and the vineyards and wheat fields of the Philadelphia area.
This is one of the most popular funduro events in the Western Cape, due to it’s close proximity to Cape Town and the stunning scenery en route. This year’s ride starts at the same venue as previous years at the Boterberg Farm. As before the terrain includes hill climbs, sand, mud holes, river crossing, and farm/field roads. It may be muddy and slippery if it rains but you can be assured of lots of fun !!!
The route, which is mostly the same as last year, includes a lot of flat dirt roads in the early stages, making is somewhat boring for those other than beginners. The single track sections in the woods along the river are awesome though, and worth coming just for that.
This event is well suited to families and beginners as there is a lot of flat open road and jeep track. There is less to offer the more experienced or technical riders. Nevertheless, it is a great day out on a well marked route. Stick around for a beer and boerie roll afterwards!
Coffee and snacks will be available to purchase.

We have ridden this event for the past 5 years and rate it as one of the better rides in the Cape. The route has been altered in parts each year, sadly shortened each time it would seem. Nevertheless there is something in this ride that will suit everyone. The views of Table Mountain after the initial climb are breathtaking as is much of the scenery en route.
There is a good variety of terrain on the ride. River crossings will be interesting if there is rainfall shortly before the event.
The event is well organised and the route markings have improved year on year. If you’ve got the energy, definitely do a second lap!
There is plenty of food and drink available after your ride too, so hang around and enjoy!
